Ezequiel Resenite Alvarez

“In Response”

July 3 – July 27, 2025

MASA Gallery

“In Response” is a solo exhibition by Argentine psychoanalyst and artist Ezequiel Resenite Alvarez. The exhibition presents a visual investigation of the act of creation as a dialogue — with the self, with loss, with memory, and with the intricate fabric of human relationships.

The works in the exhibition are deeply personal responses to life and experience. They reflect internal tension, confrontation, and emotional necessity. Painting becomes a medium through which the viewer is invited to engage with the intangible, the imagined, and the instinctively felt. The exhibition unfolds across three interwoven series, each rooted in the artist’s inner processes.

The series “Women” is a tribute born of grief—a response to the loss of the artist’s mother-in-law, and a homage to womanhood in all its relational roles: mother, sister, cousin, aunt, friend. The figures, often abstracted or incomplete, do not rely on physical likeness. Instead, they speak through the eyes—gazes that carry lived experience, secrets, and intuition.

The series “Relationships” turns toward abstraction to depict the emotional terrain of human connection. Red spheres and lines—symbols of individual identity—interact within fields of ink and colour, representing tension, attraction, and emotional conflict. The fluid, unpredictable ink symbolizes the subconscious, while structured brushstrokes of colour mark moments of conscious clarity.

The series “Untitled Abstraction” explores the threshold between the subconscious and the conscious self. Ink flows improvisationally—liquid, instinctual, and opaque—evoking the undercurrents of unconscious drives. In contrast, more defined and structured strokes of colour introduce awareness, signalling the presence of thought and intent. Each composition becomes a site of negotiation where the known and the unknowable intersect, suggesting that perception—like the self—is in constant flux, shaped by both what we understand and what slips past us.

Ezequiel Resenite Alvarez is a professional psychoanalyst from Argentina whose perspective on art is shaped by his work with the human psyche. His artistic practice serves as a space of reflection and confrontation—a bridge between emotional experience and its visual expression. His paintings invite viewers to look inward, while also engaging with the universal dimensions of psychology. These three recent series were created during the grey months of 2024 and 2025 while living in Latvia.

In his own words:
“Creation, in what I do, does not seek beauty, nor is it pretentious.
It confronts.
It is an encounter with something within me that tries to be inscribed.
A response.”
