Bite Mark is a deeply personal vision of contemporary art, where glass, teeth, bite imprints, self-portraits, and religious iconography become visual imprints of inner experience. Through his personal relationship with religion, silence, and the body, artist Valdis Putniņš explores the fragile tension between faith and doubt, interiority and exposure, vulnerability and resistance. The exhibition reveals a tension between inner vulnerability and the external need for connection. In his works, material and symbol merge into a singular visual expression, creating a space of intensity where identity, trauma, and spiritual experience unfold through the presence of the body and its traces.

Valdis Putniņš is a Latvian artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, glass art, photography, and installation. His paintings combine oil-based experiments with symbolic, intuitive imagery, reflecting on the interplay between the sacred and the mundane, the spiritual and the sensual, fragility and endurance. In glass, Putniņš unites traditional stained-glass and fusing techniques with text, photography, and bodily forms, creating layered and theatrical compositions. His works often reference religious imagery, life and death symbolism, and the paranormal inviting the viewer to engage with the psychological thresholds between material and spiritual realms.
