Viola Karule’s abstract works serve as a poignant reminder of nature’s significance in our daily lives. Her art calls viewers to explore the hidden complexities and beauty of the natural world, fostering a renewed appreciation for its subtle yet profound impact. In the study of a single flower, for instance, one may discover layers of form and color that evoke an experience of unity with a boundless, creative force.
Karule’s abstract approach embodies this energy—an expression of the ever-present potential for transformation that aligns us with the larger rhythms of the universe. Her paintings invite a deep immersion into nature’s richness, emphasizing its harmonious blend of strength and vulnerability. Through her work, Karule celebrates nature’s duality and urges viewers to reconnect with their environments, finding a renewed sense of harmony within and beyond themselves.
Viola Karule studied fashion and textile design at the Riga School of Design and Art, textile art at the Latvian Academy of Arts, and UCA Rochester in the UK. She found her main direction in painting after completing a course by English painter Louise Fletcher. Currently, she actively participates in a learning program with English painter Alice Sheridan.
