Andrejs Sosenko is a furniture designer, product designer and artist. He focuses on finding a balance between preserving the poetic essence of historical ornamentation and embracing modern tools and culture.
The purpose of his projects is to evoke a specific set of feeling is a user. Those are curiosity, state of inspiration, excitement, and comfort - a feeling of being able to relate to an object, seeing lines and silhouettes in human-made objects that users are familiar and comfortable with. In a way it is a humanisation of furniture and art to create a better and safer connection, in opposition to minimalism and modernism.
"I am working on a style in art and design that uses this human tool —
feelings — to form connection and serve as support in life. The direction I am pursuing is familiar, yet it leaves room for exploration. Most of the paintings capture a dream - like state, where I capture the environment with my emotions. The result sometimes is weirdly similar to those AI produced images, except there is no AI involved at any stage of creation of the art. Just a fun observation. In a way every painting is a diary, describing a day in life, but without words, only images."
